The original packaging is not required. Any safe packaging that protects the 2Dscanner during transport is enough.

Yes, you can combine scans. To do this, you need to use reference points and follow the proper procedure. You can align scans by using existing corners (one or two), or by placing stickers. The application supports both options: with 1 or 2 stickers — although using 2 stickers or corners always ensures greater accuracy.

The entire procedure is explained step-by-step at help.2dscanner.com or in the tutorial video.

2Dscanner can capture 2000 points in just 4 minutes using the fast mode, with only a slight reduction in precision.

In slow mode, which prioritizes maximum accuracy, the same 2000-point scan takes 14–16 minutes.

Many users prefer scanning 1000 points in about 2.5 minutes, which is often sufficient. In addition, the device offers a Smart Scan mode: it automatically collects more points in detailed areas and corners, and fewer along plain walls. For clean, simple rooms this is the fastest option, completing an efficient scan in just 1.5 minutes. In more complex spaces, however, Smart Scan does not save much time compared to the other modes.

2dscanner is tested hitting walls in range up to 7m and aim angle > 34 degrees. At this conditions the precision is +-2mm. Dark and shiny surfaces increase this number up to 3mm. In general avoid hitting walls in low angles. Placing 2dscanner near a wall instead of the center of the room is a common mistake that produces low angle measurements.

The maximum range is 40m. The precision in 40m range can reach 5cm when aiming angle is influencing the measurement.

For kitchen worktops you can scan the corners of interest and prepare the worktops from the workshop. It is widely tested and guaranteed.

Yes. When the scan is finished you are prompted to change the filename. There is a checkbox in this window. If you enable it the application will export 3 files. DXF, CSV and TXT. The CSV is the xy coordinates and easy to import in Archicad or other software.

No you don’t need to pay for application or any other extra charges.

You buy 2dscanner, you download the applications and you can use it as much as you like.

As part of our environmental policy, we no longer include a printed manual with new devices.

All instructions, guides, and documentation are available online at help.2dscanner.com.

The Pro app includes help buttons throughout the workflow, so you can open the relevant help page directly whenever you need it.

You can also use the built-in Help Mode. In Combo Scan, tap Help to activate it. After that, tap any button to see a short description of what it does.

You can use any Android or iOS device. A faster device will make the application more responsive. Slower models can still be used, but you may need to wait a few extra seconds when saving or when the 2Dscanner data is being processed. Since the drawing is generated in real time, a faster device will provide a smoother experience. There is no need to choose a very expensive device, a mid-range model is more than enough.

Yes there is. In the Downloads section you will find it.

Battery life depends on the conditions. In most cases it lasts around 4 to 5 hours. 20-25 scans of 2000 points.

Yes, you can use the 2Dscanner outdoors, but the precision may be lower compared to indoor measurements.

Strong ambient light can make the laser spot harder to see, especially on bright or reflective surfaces. This is a common limitation with most laser measuring tools when used outdoors.

In these conditions, it is usually better to run a full scan instead of relying only on individual point measurements. A full scan gives you more reference points and makes it easier to work even when the laser spot is not clearly visible.

The measuring range can also be reduced outdoors. Depending on the light conditions and the target surface, the practical range may drop to around 20 m.

Yes, you can use the 2Dscanner for vertical measurements.

Our tripod is specially designed for vertical scanning. The central column can rotate horizontally, allowing the 2Dscanner to measure outside the tripod area, so the tripod legs are not included in the scan.

This is especially useful for window measurements, because the device can be positioned in the center of a window opening. For this reason, vertical scanning is used a lot by window and frame manufacturers.

The 2Dscanner is an ideal laser measuring tool for unusual windows, non-standard openings, and cases where accurate vertical dimensions and angles are required.

Vertical measurements require precise leveling, which is done through the app. Since the 2Dscanner knows its own inclination, it automatically aligns the vertical scan so that the floor is always shown at the bottom of the screen.

The inclination is measured with an accuracy of 0.2 degrees.

Yes, you can automatically see the angle between two walls in real time during the laser scan.

When the Αpp detects two straight lines touching each other, it automatically displays the angle between them. This makes the 2Dscanner a very useful laser measuring tool for checking wall angles, room corners, and non-square spaces.

If the app detects three connected straight lines, it also displays the dimension of the middle line automatically.

This does not exist as an option yet. This will be integrated as a function in the future but in order to be functional all doors and windows should be closed and the room cannot have any obstacles in the center. So it is not very practical to use 2dscanner as a tool to measure area.

Any tripod for digital cameras will do the job. The nut of 2dscanner is 1/4”-20 and it fits in most tripods. It is recommended that the tripod can reach 250 cm so you can scan above furniture and closer to the ceiling. Our tripod provides this option and also allows the central beam to rotate horizontally for vertical scans. It extends up to 263 cm and measures 80 cm when closed. You can also use another tripod if you already have one.

The maximum scan resolution is 2000 laser points per full circle.

This means that, during the laser scanning process, the 2Dscanner can capture one point every 0.18 degrees.

All laser measurement files are stored on your mobile device.

When a laser scan is completed, the app will prompt you to send or export the files immediately. This is the easiest and recommended way to transfer your scan files.

If you do not send the files immediately, you can still access and export them later from within the app. There is also a button in the Tools menu that allows you to send all scan files together as a ZIP file.

On Android devices, if the files are not sent immediately after the scan, they are also saved in the phone’s Documents folder, so they can be accessed outside the app.

On iOS devices, the files are stored inside the app and should be accessed or exported through the application.

This way, all your laser scan and laser measuring files remain safely stored on your mobile device and can be exported whenever needed.

The 2Dscanner includes a simple rangefinder function, but for quick single-distance measurements, a small handheld laser rangefinder is usually more convenient.

The 2Dscanner is mainly designed for laser scanning and for capturing room geometry, wall angles, openings, and floor plan details. It is heavier than a simple laser distance meter and usually requires both hands for accurate use.

For this reason, we recommend using a simple rangefinder in parallel when needed. You can let the 2Dscanner complete the laser scan while you measure extra distances at the same time, making the whole measuring process faster.

Understanding this need, we created ERA1D, the next product from 2Dscanner. ERA1D is a simple laser rangefinder designed to work with the same app and make additional measurements faster, easier, and more organized.

It will help reduce manual measurements on paper and bring all your measuring data into one workflow.

Stay tuned. ERA1D is on the way.

2Dscanner is a high accuracy device. A major fall might affect this accuracy. 2Dscanner has a heavy and reinforced construction. Fall will not actually break the device but it might affect the accuracy. In this case you should measure a known target surface and check the results. If there is an abnormal amount of deviation the device will need calibration and check in our facilities.

Normal lighting, wall or other rough surfaces and as much as possible hitting the surfaces vertically. This is not always possible but we can get better results if we place the device correctly and not very near to any wall. The next figure gives some examples.

Suggestions for correct placement of laser measuring device, 2Dscanner.

The 2Dscanner has a built-in accelerometer, so it always knows its own inclination.

To level the device, open the Spirit Level function inside the app. The app will show you if the 2Dscanner is properly leveled. You can then adjust it using the tripod settings.

For horizontal laser scans, perfect leveling is not always required, because the app can also correct small inclination errors mathematically. However, proper leveling is still recommended, especially when you need high accuracy or when you are using reference stickers.

This is important because the same walls may have slightly different positions at different heights. If the 2Dscanner is not leveled and you are trying to scan two reference stickers, it can be very difficult to align them correctly. With only one reference sticker, leveling is usually less critical.

For vertical scans, the 2Dscanner should be leveled as accurately as possible. Again, this is done using the Spirit Level inside the app.

You do not need an external spirit level or any other tool to level the 2Dscanner.

No. If you have to, add some paper tape where the beam hits and you will get measurements.

No, the device is not waterproof. It is dustproof and sealed from all sides, with some tolerance against water exposure. However, it should not be considered waterproof.
